Up your game with Fios
Verizon Fios was the account to be on. We pitched and created their content hub, Fios Lounge, where we wrote witty content that focused more on being engaging than selling a product. A creative’s dream, right?
Toward the end of our time with this client, we were tasked with pitching storytelling content—and the answer was quite obvious. Because what’s the first thing that comes to mind when you think of high-speed internet? Gamers. But there’s always a familiar catch: They have to use Fios.
Once I came up with the initial concept, I thoroughly researched and concepted the idea that we’d go to a League of Legends LAN event in Manhattan, hosted by a volunteer-run organization named Community Gaming New York. And, of course, they used Verizon Fios.
We won the pitch, and we were off. We spent two days tirelessly interviewing and capturing content as a building full of “NYC summoners” aimed to achieve their goal of destroying the enemy’s base.
I was the lead copywriter on 3 storytelling pieces, each available upon request:
“League of low ping”: a retelling of the day of the event and providing details into the organization.
“Replace user then click OK”: Our video producer bravely entered the event, with zero LoL skills, and I ghostwrote her story.
“They’re not playing around”: This was our low-funnel content piece, which used real-life experiences gamers have with Fios.
